I use allograft 50/50 mix for all my socket preservation, membrane depending on if there are any Boney wall defects as you eluded to. For simple sockets 4 walls a lot of times flattening a collaplug or the like material into the shape of the socket outline, placing it over the top and a figure 8 suture will do fine. I immediately thought of you @restoredsmiles as I believe you’re teaching a grafting course in march right?
What are your thoughts on plug vs allograft.
In your opinion, Does it matter too much in a case where all 4 walls are intact?

When doing a lateral sinus lift like you were talking about yesterday, have you encountered an intrabony artery? And if you have, what is your preferred way of managing bleeding complications? Thank you!

Yes, very often 50% of greater you will have a PSAA (posterior superior alveolar artery) within the bony buccal wall as the window is created. Either before or after is fine, most of it just comes down to preference. As long as the gap is grafted, that is what is the most Important. If you do place the bone after often times I place a little bit at a time and then I use something like a Perio probe to gently push the bone graft material as apical as possible so I get a good…

I really like to do it this way also, I leave my last drill in the prep and pack bone around it. Then the implant compresses everything together. Although its tricky when bone ends up accidentally falling into the prep!

I did the uncovery on this case yesterday. My question is about approximating the flap margins with healing abutments involved. He had really tall and thick tissue, most of these are 7mm tall healing abutments and some barely poke through.

Is the pt getting a hybrid? I would just make sure you can get parts that tall. If not then u may need to go back and thin the tissue. Keep us updated.

Yes U/L FP3s. He had been without teeth for years and smokes so I just buried everything and told it’ll be another 6 months before teeth he was cool with that.
I’m pretty sure they have MUAs this tall although I’ve never used them.
I guess another question is would anyone have impressed at this uncovery appointment? Or wait for healing then…
