I placed this implant 8 months ago. It was immediate placement. I did the uncovery today. The pre op radiograph shows some loose bone graft. I didn’t really notice anything off upon flapping . ISQ 77. Is it something I should be concerned about?
Ivan and Erick2 Comments-
So I suspect the implant was placed in cortical bone at the top and the lack of blood supply caused this die off. It could also be the lack of KT thickness. This is why I routinely place my implant 2mm subcrestal. At this point I don’t think there’s anything that can be done. It’ll be ok, just something to remember for next time.

It doesn’t look like it will be a problem. Some of the graft turns over into natural bone–but some (like the graft stuck in soft tissue shown above your implant) will not turn over. It’s ok.

What happen to my sinus graft? Just not packed enough? Is this radiolucent area tissue? Can I put an implant through this or is this a giant sequestrum?
-
Hey Nick, for you sinus graft did you have a membrane as a tent before placing the graft, what was the graft Alo&Xeno or Just Alo, how long ago did you place it?To me this looks like a very pneumatized sinus up to the canines, I wouldn’t go for it with regular sinus grafting technique, I cant tell excatly from the picture where it ends, This… Read more

Hey guy, I’m still pretty new to implants. I’ve placed about 30. Looking for suggestions to improve. This is my most recent one. I chose 9 mm implant due to the proximity to the nerve. My main goal was to engage natural bone beyond the apex of the socket without getting too close to the nerve. I used the Densah burs, mostly in OD mode. and…

Question… How do you guys manage bleeding with full arches on patients that are on blood thinners for previous heart attacks, stents, etc…? It was like a pool, even during suturing at the end could barely visualize properly.

Hey does anyone here know the hiossen guide tube parameters to make surgical guides in Blue Sky Bio?
-
TBH i’m not sure what the exact dimensions are. What I have done is ordered a couple of sleves from Blue Sky and used a trial and error method to see what fits on my implant drills for various systems. You could also call companies that make surgical guides and ask them to sell you the guide tubes for Hiossen specifically. Like this… Read more

Hi buddy,
First post for me, and I like to help fellow dentites. I did a fair amount of surgical guides with Hiossen, and these are the settings that work for me. You need to add a little more on the guide hole diameter to allow the smooth guide part of the drill to go through.
Plus, the guide hole shrinks during curing. For example, on… Read more- View 1 reply

Was looking at requirements for ABOI and they want 670 ce hours. Ive learned most everything from textbooks and dont have time to take a maxicourse. Any suggestions as I start this journey?

I am figuring this out too. Where are you based?

@suredds Geez, yes that is quite a bit of CE. What’s the limiting factor: time or money? If you’re looking at that quantity of CE you probably are looking to not spend a crazy amount of money on each one…

Hey whats everyone’s opinion on using collagen membranes after socket preservation where the site heals via 2ndary intent?
-
Is there a tool or technique to prevent the membrane from folding over itself
-
Ive been reading the Pikos bone grafting book and he shows examples of just using stuff like oraplug or colla plug in the extraction sockets. He then uses a biopsy punch of the palate and sutures it on top. So basically bone graft then a small piece ( uses the biopsy punch) of collaplug then biopsy punch again of keratinized palatal tissue… Read more

Hi guys,
Just wanted to put it out there, what a great community this is. I love that it is not purely academical and judgemental 😀 I attended the complications webinar two weeks ago and loved it- what I miss in our dental community at home is the ongoing stigma around GPs doing surgery and especially women 😀 I love the fact that you…

Hi @veronika0312 ! Thank you so much for your kind words, it’s really, really nice to hear that we’re doing something with this learning community and it is in fact impactful! We’ve been working on this for some time now, but this time feels like we’ve got it! And as part of the Ninja team, we do see the stigma around women in the dentistry… Read more

@veronika0312 that is such a wonderful thing to hear! I am glad you were able to attend the webinar!
That’s what we’re aiming for–to foster a community of people who are here to learn but to form friendships too. And to not be to overly academic about it all.
Tell us more about you! I know nothing of Slovenia, but would like to learn what… Read more- View 1 reply
