Eddie, Apexa and 2 others-
Hey did my first GBR case this week. I though it went perfect. 3 days later the patient told me she has a fever and is seeing pus-like fluid from the area. I had checked the site the day before and everything looked great. Is there anything I should do now other then Rx antibiotics?

First, off congrats on taking on your first case! Also, it might not seem like a great thing, but you are also getting your complications management experience in as well now.
In my opinion, antibiotics and close follow up is your best bet at this point. Call in some meds for her and see her this upcoming week. Hopefully things have settled down by then.
I’m assuming she’s not wearing anything on top of the site (like a temporary removable partial denture or anything?)

Not wearing a partial or anything. I didn’t see any pus when I looked. The flap looked surprisingly well. Very clean. I did GBR on #13 but extracted and grafted #12 as well. The membrane want large enough to cover #12 so I placed particulate and covered it with an osteogen plug. It looks like the plug and particulate came out. But otherwise unaffected. I didn’t do anything more to her. I rxed augmenting 2 days ago and going to wait 2 weeks.

*membrane wasn’t large enough

Time often surprises us with its healing capabilities.
I’m sure it will start to clear up.
The question is, will the GBR work, given that there has been infection? That’s a good question. Time and close monitoring are key.
Time will tell! I would make sure to keep her under close watch, but don’t stress out about it.
