I get this questioned asked a lot so I figured someone here could benefit from it. Specifically I get asked how and where to I place the sutures to stablize the membrane. There is a full thickness flap here then at the base a partial thickness flap which if you look closely can see that is what i sutured to on the facial/buccal aspect. This can be called many things but very commonly know as a perioesteal stablizing suture and I used two separate horizonal mattress techniques here. So facial/buccal I bite into the periosteum/connectivce tissue of the split thickness flap and then I go through the full thickness flap deep on the palatal/lingual portion. I typically use 4.0 chromic gut or 4.0 glycolon sutures (both resorbable) to perform this. Hope this photo gives you a little bit more of an understanding. Have a great rest of your week!
