Has anyone had any experience removing mini implants? Any tips or recommendations. These are 3M small diameter 2.4X10.

I’ll record my procedure for you. Often the come right out with the mini implant insertion tool. You just turn it counterclockwise. 🤞🏼

Yes. I’ve removed them using the insertion tool that 3M makes just by unscrewing them, but those were failing and not well integrated. I have had the integrated ones snap off before as well and had to use a trephine and rongeurs to get it out. 3M is no longer in the implant business so it may be hard to find the insertion tool. It’s basically a torque wrench with a square shaped driver that slides over the square head of the implant if you can get those crowns off with the head intact. Luckily they”re skinny so you won’t have to blow out too much bone circumferentially. Good luck!

@ramseywarner Not too long ago I was researching patents in this space—
I found some patents for devices that heat up implants. The idea is they would transfer heat that kills the surrounding bone. Then you would wait for a couple weeks and the implant would be loose.
I don’t know if that has become a product yet however. Interesting concept!
If mine don’t come out easily, I’ll use a piezo to try to split the crest at that location a little
