  • Creation of lateral window for sinus augmentation

Good day everyone, I have just started to perform sinus augmentation and still new in this journey. Currently, I am using the conventional way with slow handpiece and round carbide bur (for dentoalveolar impactedd tooth removal) to cut and create the window. I am also aware of the LAS kit from osstem and DASK kit from dentium. May I know does the sinus lift kit from osstem or dentium work better and safer compared to the conventional way using carbide bur?

After creating the window, do you remove the bone island or do you lift the lining along with the bone island attached?

Thank you for your time and looking forward to everyone’s reponse

Lateral window sinus lifts are indicated when there’s 3 mm or less of residual bone height. In this case, you may still be able to go intracrestal for these lifts.

However, yes, if you do have a bony window you can leave it attached to the membrane when you elevate. It’s basically added bone graft!

I haven’t used those kits so I couldn’t tell you. My experience with lateral window has always been with the use of a round bur or piezo.
