I am a general dentist who is fairly new in my implant journey. The previous owner placed quite a few implants and is adamant that a prophylactic antibiotic (often a course of amoxicillin starting the day before the procedure) is imperative and necessary.

I have found literature on both sides of this issue. I am curious to hear others opinions…

There was two failing anterior incisors with significant infection that had to be removed and we placed two immediate implants into sites with severe bony defects. We performed simultaneously GBR/GTR using CGF/PRF protocols. After 6 months of healing we fortunately had a great outcome with ample bone.

Happy 4th of July to you ALL! I was the first dentist this patient had ever seen in his life and he was 82 years old. I was shocked this patient had this many teeth but unfortunately they all had to be extracted on a path to get this patient healthier.
