Here’s a case to follow up on our immediate implant placement discussion this past Monday. I’m not a huge fan of having to do a fixed temporary crown chair side if I don’t have to but I want the benefits of it and not the risk of the patient biting into something that can compromise the surgery. So, many times I’ll do these custom healing abutments to help keep the papilla intact and minimize any type of resorption.

      • for custom temporaries, are you using a temp cylinder and composite?

        • Very similar. These are temporary, engaging abutments. They look very similar to your typical temp cylinder. You can absolutely useful will composite which some docs do which is fine here I just use temporary acrylic like you would for a temporary crown. You’re definitely wanna make sure that you have a convex surface so there’s no cavities. Otherwise they’ll just be food traps.
