For an mandibular 2 implant overdenture what do you think is bare minimum width for a 3.2mm implant? I know we try for 1.5 mm but I also know Ivan said we could get away with 1mm for lateral incisors. Is this the case for an overdenture in this area too?
Ivan, Erick and Jedediah-
You typically want 2mm all the way around your implant b/c implants require much more bone and biology around them than teeth do. If less than try to favor the buccal bone more (i.e. more bone to buccal of implant than lingual). 1mm only all the way around will not be successful consistently so try to have more bone especially for overdentures…

One tool to keep in mind is mini implants. People love to hate them–but they are great for situations in which you have minimal bone and it may not be feasible or practical to undergo significant grafting.
for example, 80 year old woman that just wants her dentures to not move around. I wouldnt recommend a hip graft. Instead i would use a couple mini’s.

Very important when doing any type of bone augmentation that you ask yourself where is my blood supply coming from and how can I get greater access of cells to my bone graft material.
You always want to make sure that you decorticate the buccal plate to help stimulate bleeding and allow greater access to cells to feed your bone graft…

Hi, can someone please help me identify this implant please? Patient reports that she had the implant placed around 2007. Thank you!

Possible Implant Direct, or replace implant from Nobel. I would also recommend sending that information to your lab that sees lots and lots of different implants and they also could probably give you an idea what it is. I also find the website whatimplantisthat.com can be helpful as well

I hope everyone is having a great week! This photo speaks to what we have discussed a bit with Paul’s case on this forum. This was an implant placed by one of our attendees at our live surgical courses and I want to point out a 3 things.
First is the proper height of the healing abutment so that it is easy to suture because the tissue is easier…

Placed first implant (#4) solo, 2 weeks later looks like it's failing
Looks fine. I would agree with Doug. Leave it alone. It will continue to improve and settle back down over time. In the future try to place a wider and taller healing abutment to better shape the tissue and make it easier to prevent tissue from healing partially over the healing abutment that can creat food traps and less ideal healing it…

Placed first implant (#4) solo, 2 weeks later looks like it's failing
I would leave it alone. The torque is now about half of the initial insertion. I would not disturb the implant by placing a driver and force on the healing abutment. The soft tissue will remodel around the healing abutment. Come back to it in 16 weeks and torque test the implant. If it fails, remove it then, currette the socket and…

An update 4 weeks post op:
The PA looks a lot better and clinically the implant seems to be taking. The pt is continuing with CHX rinses. Unfortunately primary/secondary closure did not seem to happen. I am wondering on how to continue with this case. What should I do with that excess buccal tissue? I was thinking of just removing the…

Many of you have asked what a mental formen and nerve looks like so here it is. This case was at one of our live surgical courses we teach where we performed some alveoplasty and identified the mental foramen prior to implant placement. You especially want to be aware of this and to identify on full arch cases and any possible anterior loop it…

Hey guys, I have a restorative question. This patient is from Argentina and has a TQu4tro Tip implant, #12. (also manufactured in Argentina). When the patient presented to my practice 1 year ago it had a temporary crown which broke. I removed it an placed an Implant club healing abutment. I reached out to the implant manufacturer to ask…
