    That’s great to hear! I would definitely reinforce the the OHI and put the patient on a more frequent follow up schedule. Although the bone loss is controlled at this point, we do have to keep in mind that implants with exposed threads do have a higher risk for peri-implantitis in the future.

    Thanks for the question.

    4 months is usually a sufficient amount of time to wait before placing your implant–unless there is some underlying medical condition. For example, diabetes or smoking can alter healing.

    I can definitely see the dimensional changes you mentioned, but the bone inside the socket looks how I would expect it…

  • Ridge Augmentation

    Hi I extracted tooth # 19 about 4 months ago and grafted it with 50/50 cortical cancellous bone and resorbable membrane.

    I saw the pt today and felt like the bone could be more dense in the extraction site. Looking at the photos you can see that the ridge was 9.7mm and now it’s 7.8mm after 4 months.

    I saw him again and the tissue health looked good, no bleeding or oozing. I basically reinformed him whats going on and that we want to monitor it closely and watch for changes. We did verify correct occlusion and contacts and got a night guard made for him.

    Great Coffee & Case review session this morning guys! 🔥 This case in particular i can relate to! See all the vasculature in there? Nothing gets your heart going like uncontrolled bleeders during a surgery.
